Furious Pictures and Sound

Furious is the production banner that Johnny Daukes makes his own radio and television programmes under.

Johnny made two series of the acclaimed Radio 4 comedy ‘Radio9’ before going on to write and produce TV comedy ‘theMessage’, commissioned by Jon Plowman for BBC3.

The current project is ‘The Scanner’ a six-part radio comedy for Radio 4 which promises ‘The very best (and other bits) of European radio’.

The Critics

Radio9
‘From the first raucous jingle you know Radio9 is going to be a lot of laughs. Johnny Daukes must have spent his youth with a transistor clamped to his ear.’ Sunday Times

‘Radio9 arrived and it’s country music sketch about bestiality was a hoot…(Glittery Mule’s ‘Filthy Horse’ deserves to be a hit).’
The Independent

‘Fine comedy set in a parallel universe, written by and starring the mighty Johnny Daukes.’ **** HEAT

‘Weird, wacky and potentially wonderful…their strength lies in the great English tradition of nonsensical humour laced with a dash of social satire…they may be very successful indeed.’ Financial Times

‘Inspired satire.’ Time Out

‘Perfectly pitched parodies.’ The Daily Mail

‘Tasteless, puerile and lacking any discernible humour.’ Sunday Express

theMessage
‘a darkly energetic satirical talent.’ Time Out

‘A huge step forward for BBC3.’ Sunday Times

‘Packed with slick invention and not a little madness… from the fevered imagination of Johnny Daukes.’ Mail on Sunday

‘Extremely postmodern.’ The Times

‘Nosebleed-inducingly funny.’ Seen Magazine

‘Viciously inspired and more than a little weird.’ Telegraph

 **** Heat

‘Dark, funny and not for the easily offended.’ The Sun

‘Concept comedy…not just another sketch show.’ Steve Lamacq Show

‘An excuse to highlight and tear to pieces all that is crass, witless and indeed soulless about modern television.’ The Friday Project

"Johnny Daukes is a phenomenal talent as actor, writer and producer. His comedy is always smart, edgy, interesting and funny".

The Message is the best comedy I have seen in 10 years”.
James Herring
Taylor Herring PR

“What's brilliant about Johnny Daukes and Furious, is that they really care and understand the craft of radio and the sound of the shows.  They take as much care over this as they do over the characters, format and the jokes!  They may have one eye on the bigger TV picture but when they are making the radio show that's what they do - make radio”.
Caroline Raphael
BBC Radio 4

The Message was stunningly innovative TV that managed to be very, very funny and accurate at the same time”.
Nicola Shindler

“Johnny Daukes is a small(ish) man with very big ideas, he'll go far”.
Kenton Allen

“Johnny Daukes is as mad as a bin full of floating hammers – his genius creates free form collages which invade our minds”.
Neil Gardner

“The revelation that you made it (Radio9) ‘at home’ is clearly bad news for anyone in the studio hire business. Well done!”
